Former Urban and NTV presenter Miles Rwamiti Apuuli has hinted at running for the Nakawa West Member of Parliament seat in the 2026 general elections.
Rwamiti expressed his ambitions during a media interaction, stating his intention to challenge the National Unity Platform (NUP) incumbent and Leader of the Opposition, Hon. Joel Ssenyonyi.
In the 2021 general election, Rwamiti contested for the Hoima East MP seat on the Federation For Democratic Change (FDC) party ticket but lost, garnering only 149 votes. This loss subjected him to ridicule among his peers, including Jenkins Mukasa and Eddie Ssendi.
Rwamiti explained that his decision to shift his political aspirations to Nakawa West is based on his belief that the people in Nakawa are more familiar with him due to his daily presence and activities in the area. He urged voters to focus on the individual’s capability to serve with diligence rather than their political party affiliation.
He likened his past electoral defeat to a football game, where one team wins and the other loses, and emphasized that his decision to run for the Nakawa West seat has been long overdue.
