Some established musicians have come out and raised their concerns regarding the upcoming musicians staging concerts with just one hit song.
They said it is killing the music industry because concerts were previously highly respected and feared although now they are slowly losing meaning.
In Uganda, concerts are the biggest way of making money for musicians. But it takes very long because someone has to have so many songs and good songs in order to pull off a successful concert.
However these days when an artiste gets a hit song, they want to quickly make a concert and make money from it leaving those who have been waiting for so long very confused about what to do.
According to Ruth Ngendo, if upcoming musicians keep doing what they are doing the music industry will be down sooner.
She said that they have already made concerts lose value and meaning in that now everyone can stage a concert even when they have nothing to show to fans.
“As an artist, I’m concerned that concerts have lost value. Many artists rush to hold concerts after one hit song. Concerts should focus on connecting with fans and showcasing talent, rather than being organized quickly without meaningful preparation or impact,” .
